HAGERTY CLASSIC MARINE ANNOUNCES THE
“WHAT’S IN A NAME?” CONTEST
Enthusiasts Are Asked To Send In
Their Most Entertaining Stories for Boat Names
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (March 2008)
– Did you spend more time choosing the name for your classic boat than you did
for your children? Hagerty Classic Marine Insurance Agency, Inc.—the largest
provider of insurance for classic boats—is hosting a contest in celebration of
its upcoming 25th anniversary in 2009 to seek out the most
interesting story behind the most fascinating name.
Any owner of a classic boat is invited
to submit the story behind the name of their boat to Hagerty Classic Marine
Insurance Agency, Inc. The purpose of this contest is to seek out the most
touching, clever and humorous stories behind the names of enthusiasts’
treasured classic boats. “I grew up around the water and have always been
intrigued by the wide variety of names that adorn the transoms of collector
boats,” says McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty Classic Marine Insurance Agency,
Inc. “Boat owners take great pride in naming their boat and it is universally
understood that once a boat has been named you should never change it, even
with new ownership.”
This contest is open to classic boat
owners who, at the time of entry, are legal residents of the United States and
who are 18 years of age or older. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
This contest is void where prohibited. All contests entries must be submitted
to Hagerty Classic Marine Insurance Agency, Inc. by May 31, 2008. Finalists
will be announced by the end of June, and winners will be announced by
mid-July. The grand prize winner will receive a one-of-a-kind painting of
their classic boat’s transom by marine artist Roy Dryer. The second place
winner will receive customized foul-weather wear and the third place winner
will receive a $300 West Marine gift certificate. In addition to the three
prize winners, 12 finalists may be invited to be featured in a 2009 Hagerty
calendar commemorating the upcoming 25th anniversary of Hagerty
Classic Marine Insurance, Inc.
